Know Your Bits

Our school systems have been notoriously bad at providing comprehensive sex education. If you know what is the difference between your vulva and vagina, amazing. If you don't, here it goes:

The vulva encompasses all the external female genital structures: the hair, the folds of the skin, the outer lips (labia majora), the inner lips (labia minora), the clitoris, and the opening to the urethra and vagina.
The vagina is the canal that opens between the labia minora and extends into the body all the way up to the cervix which is the tip of the uterus. In terms of visualization, you can think of it as the birth canal where menstruation passes through.

Fun facts that most people don't know:
- Women don't pee out of their vaginas. They pee out of the urethra just like men do
- The triangular bit over the pubic bone just above the vulva is called the mons veneris which means "the mound of Venus". How beautiful is that?
